If you haven't yet given it a try, then here's how. You should see a Reader button at the top of Gmail. It should be easy to enable it with your gmail password. There should be some lame blogs already visible so you can see how it works.

To load the blogs I view, do the following. First download this blogs.xml file. Go to Google Reader's Settings -> Import/Export and upload this file. Then go "Back to Google Reader" and you should see a list of all the blogs as I have them arranged right now. It's easy to add and remove blogs as you like.

Most blogs have a distinctive orange button where you can subscribe. Or look for a "subscribe" link marked with the RSS or Atom protocol. Usually, you will be taken to a page that allows you to add directly to Google Reader. You can also copy the URL of this subscription page into the Reader field marked "Add subscription."

There are also bookmarks you can add to your browser that will subscribe to blog feeds on any page you are looking at. Google for these.
